World Of Warcraft Round 1 Plan:
For the first round of the game, it took us some time to figure everything out. As none of us have played world of warcraft before, we had to do some research to determine what the best choices were. After looking through some introductory information about the game, we met virtually to determine the choices needed to begin our quests.
For our race, we chose to be gnomes. Gnomes are innovative, with engineering specialties. They are good at escaping, resist arcane magic, and have a curious and creative mind. As engineering majors, we thought that this race would be the most fun to play. We all tend to be more on the creative side, so we thought that this race would be especially interesting for us.
For the classes, we looked at the available classes within our race and compared them to the specialties that we need. As a group of 4, we wanted 1 tank, 1 healer, 1 damage, and then one extra support person. As our tank, Logan chose to be a death knight. In addition to a tank, the death knight also fills the role of damage, so if the damage person is engaged somewhere else, Logan can step in instead. As our healer, Amity chose to be a monk. The monk is a tank, healer, and damage, so Amity will also be able to serve numerous purposes. Erika is our main damage character, as a mage. The mage is solely a damage character, so that will be her main focus. Rounding out our group is Adam as a priest, mainly to help with healing.
The specialized skills of each character are as follows:
-Death Knight (Logan): Tank, melee damage, and rune forging. Protects themselves and others in battle by using armor and blades. They can use dark magic to forge vicious attacks by using runes on their blades. They drag foes into one-on-one conflicts to allow weaker teammates to be healed or get past.
-Monk (Amity): Tank, healing, and melee damage. They are elusive, so they distract their enemies. They use mystical powers to heal teammates, and strike with precision to inflict damage. They can heal and inflict damage on enemies at the same time. They can also get spirits to help them in battle.
-Mage (Erika): Ranged damage, area of affect spells, teleportation, and control. They can do a lot of damage very quickly, although must be aware of tiring out too quickly. Using ice, fire, and water, multiple enemies can be attacked at the same time. The mage can freeze enemies, as well as teleport themselves and allies different places and summon food and other resources.
-Priest (Adam): Healing, ranged damage, power words, and mind control. They use their holy powers to restore health, and shadow magic to do damage. The damage can be immediate or forced over a period of time. They can shield themselves and allies from attacks and can also control and manipulate others.
As none of us have ever played world of warcraft before, our plan of action mainly focuses around learning the abilities of our characters before diving too far into everything. As the death night, Logan will focus the most on being the tank and protecting all of us, especially the mage and priest who are the most vulnerable. As the monk, Amity will focus most protecting us along with Logan and healing those of us who need it. That way, if Logan needs healing, Amity can still protect us while our priest, Adam, heals our main tank. As the damage, our mage will focus on attacking those enemies around us. Erika can also bring in supplies that are needed. Lastly, the priest will heal while Amity cannot, and can also help inflict damage.
Our method for approaching the quests is to take things slowly and learn the full extent of our abilities. Until we learn how to work together and readily understand the full powers each other have, we will not be able to perform the quests as best as we possibly can. If we do not rush, we can consider what works the best for all of us and learn what skills we should each focus on in order to complete the quests efficiently. Our goal isn’t to finish a specific amount of quests, but instead to figure out the most efficient way for us to work together. With that being said, as none of us have ever played the game before, we do not know how long a quest will take us, so we started with the ballpark idea of completing 3-5 quests within our first playing time. We can account for the timing of the quests during our next round.
